The Big Move!

We finally moved Trent into Corbin's room. It had been a long time coming...

This summer we set up the crib in Trent's room because we were worried about Trent bugging Corbin all night. So, we thought we would see how it went with Trent and Becca sharing a room. It hasn't been an issue yet since Becca is still in our room, but I knew it would be shortly.

So when the boys recently started asking to spend the night together (and when they did it went smoothly), we saw our opportunity. I started talking to them about sharing a room. Trent was thrilled and couldn't wait. Corbin initially said he was sad. So I kept working on him. He slowly was coming around. I was hoping this weekend, we would make the move while Mark had four days to help, but Corbin said he wasn't ready yet. Finally, this morning Corbin said was "I want Trent to move into my room now." So that is what we did today. It was quite the task to take on, all on myself, but I didn't want to wait for Mark and have Corbin change his mind. Well, Corbin did change his mind mid-move, but there was no going back. Corbin was in tears for awhile- mourning the loss of having his own room, but by bedtime he was excited again.

We have discussed some ground rules for room sharing (for example, they will each have a shelf to put their special toys that the other one is not allowed to touch without permission and no keeping each other up at night). We also moved some of the toys into Becca's room (Trent's old room) and told them that Becca's room will also be the playroom since there is open space in there. They seem to like that idea. I hope it all goes smoothly.

I can't imagine having shared a room with you. Maybe at Corbin and Trent's ages we'd have been fine but give it a few years and we would have fought like crazy! Fortunately, I don't think it goes that way for boys. :)

So much fun!! I'm excited to hear about how Corbin and Trent handle the big change in the coming days!

I shared a room with my sister and we loved it. Since we are farther apart in age (7 years) we have great memories of singing a special goodnight song together and saying prayers together.
Also, I wanted to saythat I just read the thankful post. Soooo cute what Trent and Corbin said. It is especially cute of Corbin to say that he is thankful you can have babies. What an astute thing to say- to realize not everyone can have babies and your family has a special gift. Also, I didn't know you got your truck back! What a nice man!!!
