Mystery Solved!

Last Thursday, we met with Corbin's teacher, Miss Nikki, for Fall conferences. Of course we were anxious to hear how Corbin was doing, but more importantly, we wanted to figure the mystery of Corbin's friend Ellakan.

Since school started, Corbin has been telling us all about his friends at school, which includes Damien, Gavin, Jayden, Emma M, and Ellakin. ??? ELLAKAN??? What kind of name is Ellakan? I thought it might be a girl named Ella and Kan was her last name? Mark asked if her name was Pelican and if she was a bird? But Corbin insisted her name was Ellakan.

So at our conference, we asked Miss Nikki who Ellakan was. She had no clue. She asked if Ellakan was in one of the other Kindergarten classes. But I was sure Corbin said she was in his class. So Miss Nikki got out the class list and we used deductive reasoning to solve our mystery...

ELLAKAN is really EVELYN!

I can't help but picture Corbin sitting next to this sweet little girl everyday for two months and calling her the wrong name. She must think Corbin is crazy. But Miss Nikki says they are in fact friends and sit next to each other almost everyday. So that settles it- Mystery Solved.
