This is Corbin and Trent with Trent entire collection (keep in mind this obsession started late this summer- so it has only been 5 months of collecting- with his birthday and Christmas during this time. Everyone who knows Trent is on the look out for Lions- his 6 yr old cousin gave him his stuffed lion, Kath found one at goodwill, Aunt Heidi bought him one at the drug store when he spent the night, etc. and it keeps growing):
Just the lion action figures as Trent calls them:
These are a couple of my favorite items-
1. Wild Cats nesting cups a gift from Kath, Trent's daycare provider. (Although, Lions are his favorite, he is also fond of tigers, cheetahs, leopards, and cougars- any big cat)
Here are some more tidbits about Trent's lion life:
* Trent lives in his lion costume- which includes sleeping. He uses the top for a coat when it isn't raining. I make him take it off to eat, bath, and to wash it. Becca must think she has a lion for a big brother because she rarely sees him without it.
* All play includes a lion as well. When playing with Corbin, Trent is Corbin's pet lion. Or if they are playing superheroes, Trent puts his batman cape with his lion costume and becomes Latman (Lion Batman).
* Every night at dinner when each of us say what we are thankful for, Trent says, Simba's dad. Which is who he pretends to be when he is a lion.
* When Trent watches a movie- it has to have a lion in it. So his favorites are Lion King, Madagascar, and the latest fav is Wizard of Oz (Lions and Tigers and Bears, OH MY!)
On a parenting note, lions are the key to Trent's behavior. Trent will listen and follow directions as long as I can somehow connect it to lions. For instance, if he doesn't want to eat something, I tell him lions eat it. Or for nap time- lions sleep and take naps all day long, why don't you take a lion nap. OR my new favorite lion item:
Shopping with Trent is a scavenger hunt for lions- I am amazed where he finds lions:
Cinnamon Toast Crunch as a Madagascar promotion on its box, so it is Lion Cereal and Langers Juice has a tiny lion on its label (but Trent discovered it right away), so now Trent calls it Lion Juice.
I could go on and on with examples of how Lions have invade the Sarvela house. But hopefully, this give you a taste of life with Trent. My dad thinks that one day Trent will wake up, look around and suddenly ask, "What was I thinking? Why are there lions EVERYWHERE?" Until that day happens, we will happily enjoy our little lion and his ever growing pride!

This is such a good blog! I'm so glad you captured all of Trent's lion toys and a few stories of his obsession. Also very cute that Corbin helped you gather up all the lions and is also wearing lion gear!!
I agree with Cara (and not just because she is my fiancee!)...this is a seriously amazing blog! I laughed. I cried. I laughed some more. Well told and thanks for telling it! Cara and I will be vigilant on the lookout for lions here in Knoxville to add to your growing pride!
PS- That is a hilarious picture of Zoey. She looks like she is sitting on the couch in such a way that she is trying to be human...maybe she wants to be Trent's mom both when he is a lion and when he is a little boy!
I like the picture of Zoey too- it cracks me up. I was working on the blog realized I needed a picture of Zoey and looked over and there she was posed and ready!
This blog was inpsired by your reaction to Trent when you visited. Cara made some comment along the lines of, "I had no idea how often he really did wear his lion costume." It was then I realized I hadn't adequately described his passion to you, so I figured it deserved a blog.
I had meant to take a picture of the lion Trent bought Becca for Christmas, which Trent now sleeps with- so he really bought a Christmas present for himself. He does try to get Becca to play with it too.
