Another Sleeping Update

Sleeping update #1- The boys seem to be doing very well sharing a room. They fall asleep a little later, and we often hear them up talking and playing past their bedtime. They wake each other up in the morning and I wake up hearing them causing trouble together, but overall, I don't mind. It seems like sharing a room has brought them closer. So close in fact, that last night when I checked on them, they were not only sharing a room, they were sharing a bed.

Sleeping update #2- Becca is sleeping in the big crib in her own room and sleeping through the night! I have mixed feelings about this accomplishment, but it appears this is what Becca needed.

Ever since we brought Becca home from the hospital, she has been a wonderful sleeper. Her typical nights were sleeping 9p-2a, eat, sleep 2:30-5a, eat, sleep 5:30-8a. And I was happy. She easily fell back to sleep after eating, and I was getting plenty of sleep. For the first time after having a baby, I didn't reach that desperate level of exhaustion that brings you to tears in the middle of the night. All was good. Then Becca turned four months and turned into a HORRIBLE sleeper. She would wake up every fifteen minutes- this occurred at naptime, and all night long. She did better when I held her, but was still restless. So in an attempt to get some sleep, I let Becca sleep with me. But neither of us slept well and we both were grumpy. Not knowing what else to do, I tried putting her to bed in her room, in her own bed. The first night she slept 9p-3a, I woke up at 2s and checked on her, I was wide awake, missing my little girl. The second night same story. The third and fourth night she slept 9p-5a!?! One of the mornings, Mark's alarm went off at 5:15 and Becca was still asleep, so I went and got her and brought her to bed with me to fed and cuddle.

I am sad that she prefers sleeping in her own room instead of with me or in the crib in our room. It already feels like she is growing up too fast! When the boys were babies, our doctor said four months was a good time to move them into their own room. So I dutifully moved them at exactly 4 months, even though both of them complained about it. With Becca, I am in a different mindset. I was prepared to let Becca sleep in our room as long as she wanted. I had visions of her still being with me at a year or longer (although, I doubt Mark had the same vision). But she is clearly happier in her own room. She is sleeping through the night and taking 1 1/2-2hr naps several times a day. It seems odd to complain about that, but I miss my snuggle bug sleeping next to me.
