Two things...

I just wanted to do a quick post for two reasons:

1. To express that I am LOVING the beautiful fall weather we are having! (And dreading the cold rainy weather that will be here soon)

2. To share a few pictures from the past two weeks.

It's pumpkin patch time!

Two years ago, I published my second post ever on my blog was about our annual pumpkin patch visit. Then last year, we never made it to the pumpkin patch, and therefore ending our annual tradition. This year, I was determined to make sure we made it to the farm. So today we went. It was the first weekend they were open, which meant no crowds and beautiful weather.

We visited the animals:

Raced rubber ducks:

Climbed the hay bale pyramid:

Drank apple cider and hot chocolate:

Picked out pumpkins:

Cleaned our pumpkins:

Rode on the hayride:

Found our way through the corn maze:

Shot pumpkins with a sling shot:

Rode tractors (big and small):

Made cornmeal:

Checked out how tall we were:

And this years favorite activity? The cornpit:
Corbin buried himself-
Treng made Corn Angels-
Then both boys went swimming in the corn:
It was a perfect day!

Back to School

It is my favorite time of the year, late summer/early fall. I love the crisp cool evenings that signal that Fall is just around the corner. I love the Indian Summer days, the fresh fruit and veggies from the garden, the beautiful fall colors. And, of course, I love the Back to School frenzy. This week, the kids had their first days and we took the obligatory first day pictures. Corbin started 2nd grade in Mr. Kelly's class at Walnut Grove, Trent started his second year of preschool going four days a week in the Blueberry room, and Becca started pre-preschool in the 2 and you class (both at St. Andrews Christian Preschool). I think the kids are all going to have wonderful year.

It's in the books

The soccer season is officially over!

Trent's season ended a couple weeks ago. His team celebrated with giant soccer cookies for each kid. (Coach Stacy sure knows the way to Trent's heart!) Trent's season could be labeled "A Tale of Two Trents." At practice it was Super Star Trent and at the games, Space Cadet Trent would show up. The difference between the two Trents was astonishing. At practice it was clear Trent knew the object of the game. He was aggressive, going after the ball. He was focus and driven. At the games, he ran in circles aimless. He rarely went after the ball, and often took a seat in the middle of the field. Trent even took himself out of many games and refused to go back in. We had to use the after game snacks to bribe him to play. Through all his antics, Trent had a smile on his face and was enjoying the season thoroughly, even from the sidelines. And in that sense, the season was a complete success! Trent had wonderful coaches, Stacy and Barb, who were both fun & patient. Trent enjoyed his teammates and made new friends. A great season Tigers!

Corbin's season ended Saturday with their last game and the end of the season party. And the Super Thunder Cats sure had a lot to celebrate! This was the boys second season together and seeing the growth from last year was incredible. Coach Jamie & Coach Maria are the most wonderful coaches. They have taught the boys so much about soccer, teamwork, friendship and sportsmanship. This year was fun to see the team passing, running designed plays, and getting back on defense. After most games, Corbin would tell me "you know what my favorite part of soccer is? that it is fun!"

So the Fall 2009 Soccer Season is over and in the books. Although neither Trent nor Corbin's team keeps score so the records books are a little empty, but the memories will last a long time!
