9 months in & 9 months out!

Today Becca turns nine months, which means she has been outside the womb as long (technically a little longer) than she was inside. Somehow, the first nine seemed a lot longer than the second nine months. Why is that?
As I was getting ready this morning to take Becca to her doctor's appointment, I found myself marvelling the fact that I have a daughter. You would think that since it has been nine months already, that it would have finally sunk in that we had a baby girl, but I am still surprised by it. When I was pregnant, I had a vision of our family with three little boys. I didn't let myself get my hopes up for a girl, or even imagine our family with a baby girl. When she arrived and the doctor announced, "Its a girl." I was in shock, in some ways, I still am. I find myself watching little girls, observing hairstyles, clothes, mannerisms, etc. Soaking in all things girl, it's a whole different world. I am so grateful to get to experience it.

Becca's nine month was a little quieter as far as major milestones go. She has gained two more teeth- just look at this smile. It melts my heart!

She has learned to wave, her sense of humor is emerging, she is more ticklish than ever, she relates and interacts more with her brothers, and she has developed a little separation anxiety. We are battling with biting and working towards sleeping through the night again (she is back to waking once or twice a night- occassionally even three times a night). She enjoys eating a variety of food and has started eating pasta, rice, yogurt, cheese, beans, and turkey in addition to the standard fruit, veggies and cereals. She seems to like it all.

Her stats from the doctor's appointment today: She currently weighs 17lbs 14oz which is the 33% for girls her age. Her height is 28 inches which is 67%. Her weight to length percentile is 25%- meaning she is long and lean for her age.

Summer weather has come to the Northwest, at least temporarily. With all the nice weather, Becca is learning that it isn't so rough being little now that the grass is dry enough for her to explore:

I think it is going to be a fun summer for Miss Becca!

9 months was so emotional for me, since it was the "more time out of me than inside me" thing! What a cutie she is.
I am always looking at little girls and loving that Evelyn will some day be that age... whatever the age is. I love looking at other girls' clothes and activities thinking we will be there one day. That's funny that you do it too.
All the summer rompers and dresses out there are soooo cute! Can't wait to see all the summer pics.
