Who's in the dog house (crate) now?

I thought our days of finding Trent asleep in odd places was over (see this one, here's another, and another, still more. In addition to those blog posts, we have also found Trent asleep in a bookshelf, laundry basket, under the dresser, among other places) that was until last week when Trent discovered a new place to sleep: Zoey's Crate. Several nights this week, we have gone to bed to find him in the dog crate. When you ask him about it he says he wants to sleep where his buddy sleeps.

Trent's Buddy

Since school started and Corbin has been gone all day, Trent has had to find a new playmate. At times that is Becca, but she still drives him crazy most of the time. So his new best buddy is Zoey. He plays elaborate games with her and acts as though Zoey is really an active participant. I think Trent really feels understood by Zoey. Today Trent decided to teach Zoey the letters of the alphabet:

Two and a half years ago, Trent came with me to the breeder and helped me pick out Zoey. Trent was 18 months at the time, so Zoey and Trent have truly grown up together. They are great buddies.

This Thanksgiving Trent is really thankful for Zoey

Why didn't we think of this earlier?

Mark and I have been wondering how we ever raised two babies without a dog? Zoey is Becca's personal vacuum cleaner. Becca's face is never dirty (remember this?) In addition, she helps clean the highchair.
Any crumb that falls to the floor or the into the seat, Zoey gets. All I have to worry about is the tray. Perfect. No to mention, Zoey and Becca are best buddies! Seriously, why didn't we think of this earlier?!

Happy Birthday Zoey!

Today is Zoey's 2nd Birthday! Zoey is such a good puppy and a great addition to our family. She is playful, rambunctious, sweet and incredibly gentle with the kids. She is the perfect doggie for our family. Here are some pictures of our favorite dog:
The boys thought Zoey needed to wear the traditional birthday hat:

Zoey Loves

I mentioned in my previous post how Zoey showers Becca with kisses- here is the evidence. WARNING: video footage slightly repulsive! I had to capture it on film and then quickly put an end to the love fest. Notice that Becca is trying to lick Zoey as well.

A little bit of this and a little bit of that...

Just wanted to share some random happenings, in no particular order and with no cohesive theme:

1. Becca and I are going to Knoxville!! I booked our ticket last week and am already counting down. We are going April 2-7. I cannot wait to see Cara and Matt's house and explore Knoxville. But I am a little nervous about the 7 1/2 hour travel time each way with a 7 1/2 month little girl who does NOT like to sit still, but it will be well worth it! I can't wait. I have never been away from Mark and the boys for this long either, so that will be difficult.

2. One of Corbin's top front teeth is loose! He is very cautious about slowly wiggling it, so it still has a while before it comes out. But once it does- his smile will never look the same!!

3. Staying on the tooth topic- Becca has none, and don't think any will make an immediate appearance. But since I shared a picture of Corbin with his baby teeth before his smile forever changes; I figured, I would share a picture of Becca's wonderful smile before a tooth does appear and change her smile forever as well.

4. I LOVE Skyping! I had heard of Skype before but figured it would be technically challenging to set up and I had no idea if we had the proper equipment. Thanks to a little encouragement from Cara, I set it up. It was so simple AND we already had everything we needed on our laptop! So last night we talked to Cara and Matt for over 45 minutes face to face. It was so fun. Matt and Corbin are totally the camera hogs and took turns making each other laugh. It makes it seem like Cara and Matt are actually in our living room visiting. THEN, later last night, we got to talk to my friend Katy, and I got see her girls for the first time in almost 4 years and meet her little guy, Jackson. Can't wait to skpe some more.

5. Becca is trying to crawl!! I am amazed how mobile she is! She has figured out how to push herself up on her hands and knees and rock back and forth. She is unsure what to do next and gets frustrated. I am sure she will figure it out in no time and be on her way!

6. Brothers are great! I love seeing Corbin and Trent play together more and more. They sure can fight at times, but they also love each other very much and are each other's best friend. So great to watch.

7. Becca has discovered Zoey and is so curious about her. Zoey is so gentle with her and showers her with kisses.
